Current Shindai Aikido Class Schedule

Everyone is welcome to train in any class, regardless of rank or experience. Visitors are welcome to watch.

Please note that the class schedule and Instructors are subject to change.  We work to create substantive training opportunities. We update the schedule regularly with appropriate instructors. Before you come to the dojo, please check the class schedule. Any questions or concerns can be directed to our chief instructor Steve Fasen at FasenSensei@gmail.com.

Shindai Weekly Class Schedule

We are currently in our summer rotation schedule. Some instructor designations will change during July and August. Advanced Yudansha instructors will be assigned to these classes.

OUR AREA IS CURRENTLY EXPERIENCING A CRISIS LEVEL EMERGENCE OF THE DELTA VIRUS (08/09). WE ARE REINSTIGATING COVID 19 PROTOCOLS AND CLASS CONSIDERATIONSFOR THE DOJO. THE SCHEDULE BELOW REFLECTS THESE CHANGES. 

MASKS ARE REQUIRED. VACCINATIONS ARE HIGHLY RECOMMENDED TO ENTER THE BUILDING.

Steve Fasen Senseiwith contributing advanced Yudansha:

Focusing on ASU weapons: Nito Ken / Jo – Aiki principles using two sword, ASU Bokken Kata 1- 12 / ASU Jo kata. Weapon unification mechanics.

WEDNESDAY

Ola Karasik Sensei   –  2nd class: 6:30 – 7:30

Aiki principles and movement / Jo suburi.

THURSDAY

SATURDAY

Fasen Sensei –   1st class: (Aikido Jo ): 

The focus is on ASU kata, weapon principles and weapon handling. 

Dimitri Deglas Sensei   –  2nd class: 10:30 – 11:30

This Covid Aikido class will be evolving to articulate through movement, the mechanical and internal foundations of Aikido. Dimitri Sensei brings unique perspectives after years of study with Daito Ryu Ginjukai under Okamoto Seigo Sensei.

Made to feel welcome from the time I walked into the dojo. Had a great workout and shared ideas and techniques with some talented friendly people. Would recommend this school to anyone interested in learning both the physical and mental aspects of martial arts.

Class Descriptions

Beginners Classes
Introduction to Aikido training procedures, Budo principles, and the dojo standards/etiquette. Emphasis is on Ukemi and techniques through standard ASU 5th kyu waza. If you have never trained Aikido or any martial art before, this is a place to begin, but you are not limited to these classes. These classes are ideal for new students.

General Class
Open to all levels / (principle) articulation through waza (technique).

Yudansha and Instructor-level Classes
Everyone is welcome to participate, but the training vocabulary and concepts are presented focused on more experienced evolving Aikidoka.

Buki Waza
Weapons study and integration of weapons principles as they relate to movement in ASU Aiki and empty hand training.
