Shindai is a member dojo of the Aikido Schools of Ueshiba

 

Shindai Dojo has offered exceptional training in Aikido and the philosophies of Japanese Budo since 1986. The dojo was founded by the late Dennis Hooker Sensei (ASU 7th dan) . We have been in our current location since 1996, located conveniently minutes from downtown Orlando. Shindai is the largest and longest standing Aikido school in Central Florida. Directly affiliated with the ASU and International Aikikai in Japan, all dojo instructors are highly active highly ranked internationally certified students of Mitsugi Saotome Shihan, world-renowned head of the Aikido Schools of Ueshiba.  

The dojo maintains an unrivaled reputation in the greater Aikido community, both nationally and internationally.

The teaching and training is directed by the legacy of its late founder and the ongoing unparalleled teaching of M. Saotome Shihan. The school offers a broad spectrum of Aikido instruction under the direction and oversight of Chief Instructor Steve Fasen Sensei (ASU 6th Dan,).

Shindai dojo is a global community

In addition to a daily training schedule, Shindai hosts regular seminars instructed by senior instructors within the ASU,  guest Aikido instructors, and Saotome Sensei himself.  Shindai works diligently to maintain an unparalleled level of instruction in the principles of Aikido, leveraging a significant and diverse history to build the foundation for a stronger future in Aiki.

Shindai has a storied past in hosting ground breaking seminar venues. We organized the famous Aikido Cruises through the Caribbean in 2005 & 2006. We developed and the hosted the East Coast Aikido Bridge Seminars from 2010-2018. This brought together top Aikido instructors of senior ranks, organizations, and styles in a communal investigation of Aiki principles. From these events significant relationships have grown nation wide, and the format continues.

Shindai Dojo is a also a Japanese Martial Arts Budokan, supporting traditional Japanese disciplines by sharing its facilities with a select group that have a common Japanese origin. The arts of Judo, Iaijutsu, Jiu Jitsu, Kendo, as well as Aikido, use our floor to provide outstanding Japanese Martial Arts training. Our Dojo reverberates Budo in the company of our outstanding partners, all worthy Japanese martial disciplines.
