Mark Wise Sensei

Mark was promoted to Yondan by Dennis Hooker Sensei. Mark was his first promotion as an ASU Shihan in April of 2013.

Mark Sensei began training in aikido in the fall of 1987 with The Ohio State University Aikido Club in Columbus, OH. His first teachers were Claude Geeroms and Garry Bielanski. A few years later, Frank Hreha relocated to the Columbus area and took over as head instructor for the club. In 1990, Hreha-sensei established Columbus Aikikai in Hilliard, OH. Mark trained there regularly until 1997 when he moved to Orlando. Shindai Aikikai has been his aikido home since then.  Mark claims that,”unlike the rest of the polymaths at Shindai, I hold no rank in other martial arts”.

In order to pay his  dojo dues and keep food on the table, Wise Sensei manages development of science and math textbooks for Houghton Mifflin Harcourt. In his other (non-aikido-filled) free time, Mark sings with a 300-voice chorus that is part of Central Florida Community Arts. In addition, He enjoys science fiction and fantasy books, movies, and serial art.

Mark Sensei teaches Sunday morning classes at Shindai.
