Steve Fasen Sensei holds Yudansha rank in Shotokan Karate and Aikido. He began his martial arts training in MN in 1979 – 1992 (JKA under Robert Fusaro Sensei & Hidetaka Nishiama Sensei ). In 1989 Steve was introduced to Aikido and the ASU (under M. Saotome Shihan) by Dennis Hooker Sensei.
Fasen Sensei was named Senior Instructor in 2010, and Chief Instructor of Shindai Dojo by Shindai founder Dennis Hooker Sensei shortly before his passing in 2014. Fasen Sensei continues in that capacity at Shindai Dojo today.
In 2012 Fasen Sensei was instructed by Saotome Shihan to wear his Ueshiba Juku designation.
Fasen Sensei was promoted to Rokudan (ASU 6thDan) by Mitsugi Saotome Shihan in 2017, with rank recorded and announced by Hombu Dojo Japan at Kagami Biraki 2018.
Brian Canin Sensei started his martial arts journey in South Africa as a youth. He began his training in Aikido in 1988, coming to Shindai Dojo under Hooker Sensei in 1989. Brian Sensei was named a Senior Instructor of Shindai Dojo by Dennis Hooker Sensei in 2010
Brian Sensei was instructed to wear Saotome Sensei’s Ueshiba Juku designation in 2012.

Brian Sensei continues to train regularly throughout the US.
Tim Magill Sensei has trained in Aikido since 1986. He joined Shindai Dojo in 2014, and assumed teaching responsibilities in 2015. He has trained and taught extensively throughout the United States and abroad.
Tim was promoted to Godan in 2016 through Frank Doran Sensei (CAA) and now holds that rank within the ASU.
Gil Gillespie Sensei has trained in Aikido since 1989. Besides teaching Aikido classes at Shindai, he is a Sandan in Muso Jikiden Eishin-Ryu Iai Jutsu (http://shindai.com/iaijutsu-muso-jikiden-eishin-ryu/). Gil Sensei teaches Iai classes twice weekly at Shindai.
Gil Sensei was promoted to ASU Yondan in 2016.
Charles Harney Sensei started his training at Shindai in 1992 before moving to San Juan, Puerto Rico. He ran Michi Dojo in San Juan until his return to the US and Shindai in 2012. His dojo continues and thrives.
Charley Sensei join the teaching staff in 2012.
Charley Sensei was promoted to ASU Yondan in 2016.
Dr. Ola Karasik Sensei has been practicing Aikido since 1997, training under many teachers nationally and internationally. Ola is inspired by great teachers like Daniel Herman Sensei, Frank Doran Sensei, Kayla Feder Sensei and Mary Heiny Sensei.
Ola was promoted to ASU Yondan in July of 2017 by the senior testing board of the Aikido Schools of Ueshiba. She joined the teaching staff in 2018.
Dan McCartney Sensei has trained Aikido since the early 90’s. He is an instructor at Shindai, but also holds the position of Shindai Dojo Cho. Given the number of students at Shindai his responsibilities are far ranging and daunting. He is truly irreplaceable.
Dan Sensei was promoted to Sandan in 2014 by Dennis Hooker Sensei.
Kristen Kuebler Sensei began her Aikido training in England in 1993. She joined Shindai Dojo in 2005 as a Nidan. One of her major influences outside of Shindai has been the late Henry Kono Sensei.
Kristen Sensei was promoted to Sandan in the ASU in 2012.
Mathew Bartolomei Sensei has been training at Shindai since 2004. He received his Shodan from Hooker Sensei in 2009 and his Nidan in 2014. He currently acts as one of two instructors tasked with teaching beginners.
Phillip Ott Sensei received his Nidan in 2014. He trains diligently all over the US. He currently assists in teaching the beginners class.
Dimitri Deglas Sensei came to Shindai from New York. He has Yudansha ranking in Karate, Aikido, and Daito-ryu Aikijujutsu.
Besides being on the teaching staff of Shindai Aikikai, Dimitri Sensei also teaches weekly Daito Ryu classes.
